Padang, Indarung, West Sumatra, Indonesia. mAAN Indonesia is invited by PT. Semen Padang in order to generate fresh ideas for the revitalization as well as to have to educate students and public about the importance and benefit of a heritage revitalization to society.
mAAN Indonesia invites top students from invited institutions to participate in this opportunity.
The workshop will start from 28 June 2009 (tentative), for 10 days. The fix final schedule, details, and list of invitees will be release shortly.

“International Design Workshop: The Great Padang Cement Factory Revitalization”
The design workshop is one of the important phase along with the effort to revitalize the old and historical cement factory of PT. Semen Padang,
Padang, Indarung, West Sumatra, Indonesia. mAAN Indonesia is invited by PT. Semen Padang in order to generate fresh ideas for the revitalization as well as to have to educate students and public about the importance and benefit of a heritage revitalization to society.
The workshop is following mAAN’s past success in having similar events in Shanghai and Istanbul in turning abandoned old factories into vibrant places.
The workshop will be taking place right in the 1910 cement factory of PT. Semen Padang. During a period of about 10 days, around 48-60 students
(postgraduates and undergraduates, from various local and international architectural institutions) from invited institutions will be working intensively in units headed by invited professionals and assistants. There will be lectures, crits, and discussions led by prominent figures from respective fields of expertise. By the end of the workshop, the units (consist of 5 to 6 students) are expected to produce varied perspectives, methods, strategies, proposals, programs as well as buildable architectural designs.
