Bogor Botanical Gardens International Workshop 2010, 3-10 Juli 2010
The workshop was initiated by Bogor100. Bogor100 community is consisted by individuals who care about Bogor’s urban development and heritage preservation. For this workshop, Bogor100 works together with several institutions and non-govermental communities; Bogor Botanical Gardens, P4W – LPPM IPB, Landscape Department IPB, and Kampoeng Bogor community and mAAN. The event was held for 7 (seven) days in the Botanical Garden; in the historic Guest House (former director’s residence) and the historic Treub Laboratory.

worKonference@SG2010 seeks to explore different responses to the challenges inherent in the design, use of space and the construction, protection and preservation of identity in a global city such as Singapore.
It will feature an international competition, a public exhibition, an interactive workshop, conference and public forum attended by professionals, community leaders, and academics in the architecture/ urban-planning/ development field. There will also be an emphasis on creating real-world impact.
The mAAN8 worKonference @Sg2010 is jointly organized by mAAN and ReallyArchitecture (re:ACT).
The working committee will comprise of aspiring youths and distinguished, inspiring advisers from all over the world. We welcome for more applications of interest to be involved in this exciting endeavor.

The design workshop is one of the important phase along with the effort to revitalize the old and historical cement factory of PT. Semen Padang,
Padang, Indarung, West Sumatra, Indonesia. mAAN Indonesia is invited by PT. Semen Padang in order to generate fresh ideas for the revitalization as well as to have to educate students and public about the importance and benefit of a heritage revitalization to society.
mAAN Indonesia invites top students from invited institutions to participate in this opportunity.
The workshop will start from 28 June 2009 (tentative), for 10 days. The fix final schedule, details, and list of invitees will be release shortly.

Professor Raymond Lifchez, Chair of the international Berkeley Undergraduate Prize for Architectural Design Excellence announces that the 2010 BERKELEY PRIZE launches on October 1, 2009 ONE MONTH EARLIER THEN USUAL.
Each year the PRIZE, whose primary goal is to foster a larger awareness and understanding of the social art of architecture, sponsors an Essay Competition, a Travel Fellowship Competition, and an Architectural Design Fellowship Competition. All are open to undergraduates studying architecture throughout the world.
A total of $9500 in prize money is awarded to the Essay Competition winners with a guaranteed $4000 first place prize. The Travel Fellow(s) is given round-trip air-fare and a stipend to attend a significant architectural event in the Summer of 2009. The Architectural Design Fellow(s) is given a $2500 honorarium and money to fund prizes for a local design competition.
Students are asked to submit a 500-word Essay Proposal in response to a posted Question. The 2008 PRIZE Question revolves around the topic of Historic Preservation/Heritage Conservation. The Proposals are due on November 1, 2009.
Approximately 25 student semifinalists are invited to expand their proposal into a 2500-word essay due in mid-February, 2010. From this pool, 5-7 Finalist essays are forwarded to the 2008 BERKELEY PRIZE Essay jury, who will select First, Second, and Third place winners. The entire operations of the Prize, including all submittals and judging are done on-line.

- For the Travel Fellowship, students are asked to propose an architectural destination connected with their Essay response and that reflects some service component.
- For the Design Fellowship, semifinalists are invited to submit proposals for a design competition to be held at their school that further investigates this years Topic and Question.
During the past eleven years, over nine hundred students from forty-six countries have participated in the various competitions. Among the several awards the BERKELEY PRIZE has received, the latest is a national American Institute of Architects Collaborative Achievement Honor Award presented at this years national conference.

About Bogor Botanical Garden Revitalization Workshop 2010 on 10 Jul 2010: Today, we just finished another mAAN-inspired workshop in Bogor, indonesia. 6 units of total 40 participants were led by masters; consisting of: Prof. Yahaya Ahmad (University of Malaya, Malaysia), Prof. Lai Chee Kien (National University of Singapore), Adi Purnomo (architect, Indonesia), Dr. Widjaja Martokusumo (Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia), Avianti Armand (architect, Indonesia), and Rahman Andra Wijaya (landscape architect, Indonesia).
participants were composed by graduate and undergraduate students, as well as young graduates and local participants.
We managed to identify complex problems and issues surrounding the existence of the Bogor Botanical Garden and came up with proposals. Some are into physical improvements, some are engaging creative activities as steps towards saving the nature conservatory, some are playing with creative solutions.
